sanskrit courseSanskrit is the language of the Vedic culture. It has brought forward an immense treasure of literature, science, culture and philosophy. There are numerous Sanskrit texts about the various Vedic fields of knowledge, like mathematics, astronomy, astrology, Ayurveda, Vasati (architecture), and so on.  It has influenced vast realms of our thinking and cognition and is still spoken by many scholars in and outside of India. Without knowledge of its Sanskrit culture, the present India and its traditions are not to be understood.

The name Sanskrit means “joined together, arranged, decorated”. This hints at Sanskrit's grammar being exactly regulated. According to the academic opinion, the today still existing “classical Sanskrit” came about from the old Indian languages. They were sorted and structured by the grammarians.

According to the Vedic tradition, Sanskrit is the original language of the Vedas. They were transmitted directly from the spiritual world at the dawn of creation. Therefore, their language bears the power to connect the reciter and the receptors of mantras and shlokas with the eternal spiritual reality.

Sankrit Basic Course

The is meant for all people who want to acquire basic knowledge of the Sanskrit language. No previous knowledge is required. The course is purposefully designed on a undergraduate level. That means, by avoiding the complicated linguistic discussions of the graduate courses, we take the essence of the language and present it in an easily understandable way.

You will learn:

  • to read and write texts in Devanagari script
  • to pronounce properly any text and mantra
  • to form simple sentences in Sanskrit
  • to read easy Sanskrit texts and understand their grammatical structure
  • to learn many terms from Vedic science, like vasati , ayurveda, astrology, yoga, philosophy  etc. and understand their linguistic roots.

The Course is conducted either as classical correspondence course or online.

The course material is centred around the verses of the Bhagavad-Gita. Together with an additional twelve-month BA course the successful student will be able to fully understand all verses of Bhagavad-Gita in all details. Since this course also serves as accompanying study for our Vasati and Ayurveda students, we also will deal with various technical terms of these branches of Vedic knowledge.
